Future Group – Same Store Sales Rise in Festive Season

Future Group’s various retail formats did brisk business during the Festive season of Diwali and reported significant sales growth Y/Y basis.

Total sales for October’08 were up 82% y/y at Rs7 bn. Value retailing segment [Big Bazaar, Food Bazaar,etc] sales (60% share) were up 87% y/y while Lifestyle retailing [Pantaloons, Central Mall, etc] (22% share) grew 66% y/y. Home retailing [eZone, Furniture Bazaar, Electronics Bazaar, etc] sales at Rs1.4bn (up 67% y/y) contributed 18% to the topline.

However, note that the Total Sales in Oct/Nov-07 was higher by 120% compared to then previous year i.e Oct-06.

Same Store Sales growth for value retailing during the month was 49%, highest registered in the past three years. SSS growth for lifestyle retailing was 33% while home retailing registered 23% SSS growth. Overall SSS growth was 42% during the month.
