Dabur India Ltd’s corporate blueprint unveils that they are all set to cash in on the retail boom in the last and most powerful emerging economy of the world, India.
Last week, I reported about Dabur India’s plans for Ready to Cook Food entry through Reliance Retail & Big Bazaar.
Insiders have confirmed that Dabur India is planning to setup its own chain of Health and Wellness Retail outlets across India. This business is still in nascent stages and only Pantaloon Retail India Ltd has announced its plans to enter this segment of retailing.
Health and Wellness is a Specialty Retail business and has been very successful in the west and Dabur’s Burman is looking for similar success in India. Dabur may launch it’s own stores of 2,000-2,5000 sft in size or maybe a part of other retail chain format for which it is currently in talks with [Reliance Retail]. Himalaya Healthcare is already into similar business but not exactly what Dabur intends to but the former may expand to eat a pie of this specialty market. Another competitor could be VLCC.
