Prime Deli plans 100 stores by 2009

India sure is a country of Vegetarians but you can see increasing acceptance of high quality Deli – cheeses, meat and sea food amongst Hindu born Indians as well.

Prime Deli currently has operations in 8 shop-in-shops in Bangalore / Bengalooru, Hyderabad and Chennai in partnerships with Spencers of FoodWorld. The company is in talks with various other retailers to run Prime Deli Fresh shop-in-shop and make their presence felt across India. The company wants to have 30 centers in each of the above cities and smaller ones like Mysore, Mangalore, Coimbatore and Pondicherry by 2009.

Prime Fresh Deli stocks around 60 varieties of Cheese and imported meat such as sausages, ham, caviar, pates mostly from Europe. Their selling price of fresh chicken and fish are marked up by 8-10% compared to your local meat shop. Price of whole skinned Chicken is around Rs 90 / Kilo. Rs 3,000 / Kilo for Parma Ham and Rs 5,000 / Kilo for foie gras. However, Prime Fresh makes an extra effort to maintain temperature, packaging and hygiene which is so essential especially for meat products. So if you are an Expat / NRI / American in Bangalore, Chennai or Hyderebad then head straight to Prime Deli or Prime Fresh stores for your Meat Shopping 🙂
